CHI 97 Author Kit for Technical Notes Presenters
Congratulations on having your submission accepted! This kit has been
put together to give you guidelines for what to do next. Please read
through this first 2-page section now, so you will be familiar with
the timetable and work required. You must follow the enclosed
instructions and timetable in order to have your accepted submission
included in CHI 97 publications, and to have a good presentation at
the conference.
Contents of the Author Kit:
- How to Produce the Camera-Ready Document -- Directions for producing and sending in three (3) camera-ready copies of your (2 page) Extended Abstract Summary to be included in the Extended Abstracts, Due by 15 December 1996.
- How to Produce the Electronic Document -- Directions for making your submission part of the electronic CHI 97 publications publicly available on the World Wide Web following the conference. Due by 15 December 1996.
- How to Prepare for Presenting at the Conference -- Directions for preparing your talk and visual aids for presentation of your accepted
submission at the CHI 97 Conference.
- Audio Visual and Computer Request Form -- Must be filled out and
returned to the CHI 97 Conference Office for any audio visual or
computer use during your presentation. Due by 15 December 1996.
- ACM Copyright Form and ACM Interim Copyright Policies -- The ACM
Copyright Form must be filled out and returned to the Conference Office in
order for your accepted submission to be included in the CHI 97
publications. Due by 15 December 1996.
Timetable:

A package including the following must be sent to the CHI 97
Conference Office:
- Three copies of the camera-ready document to be included
in the CHI 97 Extended Abstracts.
- Completed Audio Visual and Computer Support Request Form
- Signed ACM Copyright Form
By 15 December 1996
An electronic copy of your accepted paper needs to be made Web ready
and transferred to the CHI 97 Electronic Publications Team according
to directions included here in How to Produce the Electronic Document.
Before the Conference
Prepare presentation of your accepted submission with visual aids as
needed. Your Session Chair will contact you to arrange to review your
visual aids before the conference.
For your information:
- The Audio Visual and Computer Request Form is your final request.
This form must be sent in if you are using any audio visuals or
computers (including your own) during your presentation.

- Get style file(s) from https://chi1997.acm.org/pubform/
- Print three (3) camera ready copies of your document
- Read ACM Interim Copyright Policies and sign ACM Copyright Form
- Read How to Prepare for Presenting at the Conference
- Fill in the Audio Visual and Computer Request Form
- By 15 December 1996: send the three Camera-Ready copies and the Audio Visual and Computer Request Form to the CHI 97 Conference Office:

- Follow the directions in How to Produce the Electronic Document (included in this kit) to create an electronic, WWW ready version of the accepted submission.
- By 15 December 1996: pick one of the methods listed (ftp, email or diskette) to send in the files for your electronic version. [If electronic version is being sent by ftp (most preferred) or email, follow instructions for file transfer. If it is being sent on diskette, then send it to the CHI 97 Conference Office (address listed above)].
- Send e-mail to chi97-ep-submissions@acm.org that includes the README file you created with your electronic version (listing contact information and file details).
- Prepare your presentation and supporting visual aids and practice presenting.
- Let your Session Chair review your visual aids, and modify them accordingly.
- Register for CHI 97, request accommodations, and book your travel.
- At the conference, use the Speaker Preparation and Speaker Rehearsal rooms as needed, and attend the Speaker Breakfast on the day of your presentation (complimentary breakfast for only one presenter per accepted submission).
